Therapy vs. coaching across borders

Licensed therapists are bound by the rules of the state or country where you are physically located during a session, so a clinician can only work with you where they hold a valid licence.

Life and expat coaching is not regulated the same way. Coaches can work with you across borders by video call because they focus on goals, transitions and daily adjustments — never on diagnosing or treating a mental health condition.

    Coaching questions

What happens in a first coaching session?
The first session is about your situation and what you want to change. Your coach listens, asks questions, and you agree on one or two concrete goals to work on before the next session.
How often should I meet my coach?
Most members meet weekly or fortnightly at first, then move to monthly once things feel steadier. You and your coach decide the rhythm together and can change it at any time.
Is coaching the same as therapy?
No. Coaching is forward-looking and practical, focused on goals and action. It is not medical or clinical care. If you need clinical support, licensed clinicians are listed separately and crisis resources are always one click away.
