FCFresh Chapter

Grief & bereavement

Grief does not need fixing. It needs someone steady beside it.

After a death, everyone shows up for two weeks and then life expects you back. A Fresh Chapter coach walks alongside the months after that: the admin nobody warned you about, the first anniversary, and the slow work of carrying it.

Every coach is identity-checked and credential-screened before they take a client.

What people bring to these sessions

  • The estate, accounts and paperwork you cannot face alone
  • Going back to work when your concentration is gone
  • Anniversaries, birthdays and the first holidays
  • Grief that arrives out of order, or years late
  • Supporting children who are grieving differently to you
  • Friends who disappeared, and the ones who say the wrong thing

Coaching is practical and forward-looking — it is not therapy and it is not medical, legal or financial advice. Life and expat coaching is not regulated the same way. Coaches can work with you across borders by video call because they focus on goals, transitions and daily adjustments — never on diagnosing or treating a mental health condition.

What the first month looks like

  1. Step 1

Week 1 — what actually has to be done, and what can wait

  2. Step 2

Week 2 — a sleep and eating floor you can hold on the worst days

  3. Step 3

Week 3 — scripts for work, family and the people who ask

  4. Step 4

Week 4 — planning the dates on the calendar that are going to hurt

Common questions

Is grief coaching the same as grief therapy?
No. Coaching is practical and forward-looking — routines, decisions, planning the hard dates. Therapy treats mental health conditions and is delivered by licensed clinicians. Many people use both, and we will say plainly when therapy is the better fit.
How long after a loss should I reach out?
There is no correct point. Some people come in the first fortnight for help with logistics; many come six months or several years later, when the support has faded but the grief has not.
What if I am in crisis?
Coaching is not a crisis service. If you are at risk, use the crisis lines on our emergency page for your country — they are staffed around the clock.
